“Combating Gender Based Violence in the South Caucasus” project is a three-year initiative implemented the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia and co-funded by Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
The main aim of the Project is to create an environment to reduce GBV Georgia in order to support protection of human rights, gender equality and women’s participation.
The Project constitutes a comprehensive and rights based response to the requests for assistance, and includes research and data collection, advocacy and awareness-raising, laws and legal reform and governmental action plans, capacity building for prevention of GBV, protection and rehabilitation of GBV victims and inter-country collaboration on gender equality and gender based violence.
Overall the project: through promoting women’s rights, ensures protection of human rights, supports development of human capital and serves sustainable development, establishes a basis for democratic governance in Georgia.
The project is implemented in close cooperation with the key government entities, NGOs, and academia, and facilitates the transfer of main project components to governmental and NGO structures at the final stage of the project.
