Assessment of Existing Legislation
Legal frameworks available to combat GBV in Georgia has been evaluated and gaps and inconsistencies are identified in existing legislation. The new amendments package to the Law of Georgia on Domestic Violence has been elaborated with the contribution of international organizations (ABA/CEELI, UNFPA, UNIFEM) and is currently pending at the Parliament of Georgia. The government is also assisted in bringing the current legislation in line with best practices and international human rights standards. A study tour for the experts and governmental representatives to examine the NRM on domestic violence in the European Countries is planned for 2010.
