Marking the International Human Rights Day by the South Caucasus Regional Exhibition on Women’s Rights
On December 10th, 2010, UNFPA Georgia marked the International Human Rights Day by conducting the South Caucasus Regional Photo Exhibition on Women’s Rights at the Gallery VernySsage. The exhibition brought together artworks from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and was held simultaneously in the three countries of the South Caucasus in adherence to the UN Secretary General’s UNiTE campaign to end violence against women.

Official launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence
On November 25, 2010, 13:00, an official launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence was held at the Sheraton Metekhi Palace Hotel. The Official launch was organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Georgiasupported by the Parliamentary Council on Gender Equality and the State Inter-Agency Council on Domestic Violence.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 – December 10) is held under the coordination of UNFPA implemented project “Combating Gender-Based Violence in the South Caucasus”, supported by the Gender Equality Council at the Parliament of Georgia and in close collaboration with governmental, international and non-governmental organizations in the field.

Roundtable on Institutionalizing Gender-sensitive Reporting within Media
On July 21st 2010 a roundtable on institutionalizing gender-sensitive reporting within media was held on the joint initiative of the Inter-Agency Council on Domestic Violence and the UNFPA/Georgia at the hotel Courtyard Marriott, Tbilisi.
The roundtable aimed at introducing the initiative on mainstreaming gender in the Georgian Public Broadcasters’ Code of Conduct, the Broadcasters’ Code of Conduct and the Journalists’ Ethics Charter and adopting professional standards to ensure gender sensitive reporting.

Declaration of Commitment to End Violence against Women
On November 25th, 2009, the official UN observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a Declaration of Commitment to End Violence against Women was signed at the official opening of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence organized by the Gender Equality Advisory Council under the Chair of the Parliament of Georgia and UNFPA Georgia office.
